Around 20:30 -according to neighbors- a fire started on a private property located in the Picada neighborhood of Villa Elisa, in the area of the Pan-American Industrial Park. It is a place where there were fuel containers whose origin is unknown, according to Captain Rafael Valdez, from the Volunteer Fire Department of Paraguay.
Due to the characteristics of the site, it would be a clandestine deposit of fuel. The neighbors say they do not know to whom it belongs and they say they never knew exactly what the activity was in the place, which started working a short time ago. They noted that several vehicles were constantly entering and leaving the site.
“The fire is being controlled with the support of Petropar because for this type of fires it is necessary to use foam and not water, as these reignite the flames,” said Captain Valdez.
He added that what burned was liquid fuel contained in containers and said that the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office will determine their origin. He did not want to talk about the possible causes either since the priority at that time was to put down the flames and pointed out that the corresponding skills would be carried out later.
